An Example of Poor maintenance

Just like a car, Air conditioning systems require effective regular maintenance and servicing to provide continuous peak performance and to maintain air quality to the high standards produced when it was first installed. In particular the coils of both the indoor and outdoor units should be thoroughly cleaned at every service.

The coils are the parts of the system where the heat transfer takes place and dirt on a coil will form a barrier to heat transfer, effectively insulating the coil. This will lead to an overall increase in the running costs of any refrigeration and air conditioning system. On indoor coils this will contribute to poor indoor air quality and can act as a source of contamination.

Job Description: Strip units & clean contaminated coils, drain pans & condensate pumps.

Below are some images of a recent service call we attended that resulted in the two indoor units having to be dismantled in order to clean away a thick layer of hardened grime that had accumulated on the coils, resulting in very poor performance & extremely high running costs.

The customer had previously contracted another air conditioning company to maintain their units over a number of years before contacting Chilltek, during our visit we had seen no evidence that the other company had fulfilled anything they were contracted to do other than clean the filters, three out four units were in operational; the other company's solution was to quote the customer thousands of pounds for new units or hundreds of pounds to have the units removed from site to be thoroughly cleaned and then reinstated. We feel that the customer should have received a formal apology for the lack of service they had recieved and had the units put right at no additional cost........

Chilltek has since cleaned and serviced the units on site at a time convenient to the customer; leaving all units fully functional and performing much better.

Below is a list taken from a Chilltek maintenance check sheet, If you don't see any evidence of your existing contractor performing any of these checks then maybe you should ask them why they aren't, otherwise give us a call and we would be more than happy to look after you.
